Racial Inequality in Running & Outdoor Recreation

Addressing racial disparities in running and outdoor recreation through cultural analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic reporting.

Objective:

Identify and address systemic racial disparities in running and outdoor recreation by uncovering barriers to participation, representation, and inclusion across industry leadership, marketing, and cultural perception.

Strategy:

  • Partnered with advocacy organizations and industry leaders to align on inclusion priorities.

  • Led qualitative and quantitative research initiatives, including focus groups and cultural analysis.

  • Evaluated marketing, leadership representation, and barriers to participation for BIPOC communities.

  • Translated findings into visual reports and presentations tailored for executive stakeholders.

  • Advocated for actionable change through presentations and deliverables aimed at guiding inclusive policy and outreach efforts.

Result:

  • Delivered comprehensive written and visual reports presented to running and outdoor recreation stakeholders.

  • Elevated awareness of systemic exclusion patterns and underrepresentation in brand leadership and participation.

  • Informed marketing and program recommendations to better engage BIPOC communities.
